Fitness Week! – Fundamentals

I call this Fundamentals because what I’ve learned during my long 24 years of life thus far, is that fitness is not about all the gimmicks, quick-losing-but-not-healthy diets, or the soon-they’ll-say-it’s-bad-for-you fads, but it IS about changing up your lifestyle, attitude, and doing the little things to keep you movin’ and groovin‘!

You DON’T need all the fuss and buss of heavy machinery or contraption. My advice is to just go and get out there! God created this wonderful earth, let’s go and enjoy it!

Here are my list of 5 small ways to be a little healthier:

1. Drink water. Period. (coffee is an exception 😉 )
2. Devote at least 20 minutes everyday devoted to movement at a speed that gets your heart racing.
3. Reach for the fruit.
4. Find an active activity that you like. (ex. hiking, rollerblading, sports, speed-walk-shopping….)
5. Lose the discouraging talk.

—–

In addition to those 5 ways, I’d like to introduce you to my friend Kenny — the super trainer. I first met him in Bible Study earlier this year and he has truly been such an inspiration — not only about fitness, but about faith as well. He is so energetic and encouraging that even though you’re sweating, groaning, hurting, and tired he will make you laugh and forget it all. Check out his YouTube Channel for encouraging words and that Kenny Smile.

So remember that Half-Dome trip I did this past summer? Well, little did you know, after a grueling 16-mile hike, my friend Kenny decided to make a work-out video on top of the mountain. Just proof that you can work out for 10 minutes, any time and anywhere. And yes, you may see a cameo of me. Just maybe.

Oh, and if you want to get tips on how to “Bring Sexy Back”….

Thanks for joining me during Fitness Week! 🙂

Fitness Week! – #Bodenonthego

Welcome to Fitness Week on SWA! Since the holidays are coming up, temptations are sure to arise as pumpkin spiced baked goods pop up at every corner and those numerous, as well as enormous, family feasts that you just can’t seem to control yourself at. Yes, so what’s my plan? A pre-holiday work out! I feel like it’s harder to have a post-holiday work out because you’re already lethargic and suffering from a food coma, so why not start early, kick in those good habits, and not worry about gaining those holiday pounds?

So this week I have a couple of posts lined up revolving around the three F’s of fitness: Fashion, Food, and Fundamentals

Today is all about the Fitness Fashion . Boden Clothing has just recently launched a new activewear line that is not only functional, but stylish beyond measure! The fabric is breathable, flexible, comfortable, and basically any other -ible you can come up with! I was especially surprised by the bottoms because it felt like a second skin but was not see-through at all and even included a secret back pocket for a key! Make sure you hurry on over to their site and use the code YOGA to get 15% off your purchase! Research and statistics actually shows that your wardrobe makes a difference in your psychological behavior.

Good activewear = Higher tendency to work out = Healthy Lifestyle

TOTD: Fashion Blogger Problems

Okay, so I’ve been trying to make an effort to post on Mondays and Thursdays but as you noticed, I missed yesterday’s deadline due to an unsalvageable miscommunication with my computer. Oh the joys of having a hobby that solely relies on the cooperation of a metallic piece of hardware that practically speaks another language. Instead of saying “Save” in computer-nese, I guess I pronounced “Delete” instead. I think my accent was off.

Anyways, this prompted me to write a post about problems that a fashion blogger faces. Granted, I’m still kind of new in the blogging world, and haven’t experienced all the twists and turns yet, but here are some thoughts.

Screen Shot 2014-05-16 at 5.25.38 AM

1. “My pictures are deleted?! How on earth will my readers live a day without inspiration?!!”

2. “It’s been a whole ten minutes since my IG post and only 30 people have liked my picture?!!”

3. “Wait up! Sorry, I needed to stop and take a picture of my arm candy.”

4. “Shoot. I missed the prime posting time.”

5. “My photographer (a.k.a an unpaid family member) is sick? Eh, I’ll just give her a sweater and she’ll be fine. For the sake of the blog!”

6. “Um, excuse me pedestrian/car/dog/biker. You’re in the shot.”

7. “Oh no! I forgot to share my new blog post via [insert your choice of social media]”

8. “My ring was crooked. We need to take new pictures.”

9. “I’m sorry, did you say something? I was too busy planning out my blog schedule.”

10. “Have…to…fight…the…pain. Can’t…sleep…now. Gotta…have..a…new…post…”

Hope you had a good laugh. And hopefully over the weekend, my computer and I can work on our communication skills in time for Monday’s post.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a blessed weekend!

Oh, and if you have anything to add to the list, I would love to hear it! 🙂

24 candles

Another year has come and gone, which of course means that I am one year older.  I’ve lived 24 years thus far full of fond memories, heartaches, laughs, struggles, and growth (basically a life just like everyone else in this world but I felt like attempting to write eloquently :P)

Before I blow out my twenty-four candles, I want to take the time to reflect on the blessings of this past year, the growth that has happened, and the excitement to come.

3 categories x 8 ideas = 24 reflections

Loves I’ve Lived
1. Saw FUN in concert.
2. Tried surfing and snorkeling for the first time.
3. Designed invitations for 2 weddings
4. Experienced Friendsgiving in Washington, D.C with the best of friends and witnessed an engagement. 🙂
5. Was front row of a Backstreet Boys concert and was able to hold all their hands while being serenaded. 😉
6. Went to a Sharks game and sat in the Penthouse Suite c/o a friend working at a big company – (The corporate world has it made! :P)
7. Went strawberry picking for the first time.
8. Started this blog. 🙂

Lessons I’ve Learned
1. With our Lord Jesus Christ, all things are possible, including getting through my first year of teaching.
2. There should always be time to foster relationships, friendships, and community no matter how busy life gets.
3. ALWAYS bring a flashlight with you when you go hiking just to be safe.
4. Sometimes you just have to sleep (I know this, but this next year I’m going to practice it. 🙂 )
5. Smiling is the best medicine.
6. Prom-posal – the act of asking someone to prom.
7. Be confident with the person that God made you to be.
8. Don’t base your happiness on something you can lose. C.S. Lewis

Longings to Look forward to
1. Exploring the Bay Area — It’s been my home for 19 years of my life, yet I have not seen, done, or tasted even half of the things the Bay has to offer.
2. Improving my teaching practice.
3. Seeing where the Lord takes me and being able to say “OH, so that’s Your plan. So much better than mine.”
4. My future trip to New Zealand next summer (okay, technically I will be 25 by then but still 🙂 )
5. Designing more stationary.
6. Seeing how my blog progresses.
7. Trying new things.
8. Forming and investing in new friendships.

Thank you for joining me today on my birthday! ❤
