Anticipating Fall

For some reason the weather here in the Bay Area has taken an odd turn — gray skies and less sun. These gray skies do not help my itching anticipation for fall at all. Remember this dress that I wore this past fall/winter? Well, I decided to take it out again but added a colorful scarf to brighten it up a bit and make it season appropriate. My shoes on the other hand…sorry, I couldn’t help but break these out.

Waiting till fall was like having a bowl of mint-chocolate-chip ice cream on the table in front of you. My advice: just have the ice cream.

Walking into Anthropologie, I always get the feeling of want and excitement seeing all the pretty designs but then the moment I look at the price tag, the item turns into fire — burning money through my teacher-salary-paycheck — and henceforth I put it down to prevent such a catastrophe.

I was prepared for this repetitive cycle again as I walked in the store last week. But lo and behold, I found this gorgeous lace overlay sheath dress that luckily did not become a fire but just a hot iron that barely singed the corners with the mere cost of $30. Yes, that was it. Weddings, garden parties, and date nights — watch out because this dress is coming for you.

Why I love this dress:

– The subtle color underneath the lace
– The comfortable fit
– The modest hemline
– The versatility
(after the photo shoot I threw on my denim jacket and switched to sandals and ran some errands. Ha )

Maximize the Maxi

I love adding pieces to my wardrobe that is easy to mix up and dress up for different occasions. It’s all about maximizing what you’ve got already, especially when you’re just starting out in the professional world.

Technically I’m not playing hooky because my school actually has Cinco De Mayo off, but sometimes I like to feel that I am capable of such craziness and whimsy. 😛 And if you’re reading this and thoughts of jealousy arises because you’re in the office right now, know that I am at Starbucks right now grading 150 math tests and lesson planning for the week. I’m in the same boat as you are. 🙂

Hat Happy

I know, it’s already Monday again, but you know what? Don’t just endure it, embrace it.

Put on your favorite outfit, grab your coffee, and remember to smile because we are so blessed beyond measure.

You have no idea how long I have been trying to find a hat that I like, as well as one that fits my head in which I have this conceived notion that it is too big and oddly shaped to be stuffed in a hat. Yes, pretty ridiculous, but so true! Luckily I was able to snag this beauty off the sales rack without having to wrestle anyone for it.

Red and Brown

Yes, I bought something, but luckily it’s technically something old and used, but still in the utmost prime condition! Therefore, I have yet to break my New Year’s resolution.

STORY TIME: I went into Crossroads (a thrift/consignment shop) hoping to find an outfit for this secret event that I was invited to…Oh heck, let’s be honest, I was just trying to satisfy my shopping crave! Haha. Anyways, I was about to pay for a couple of items when I saw these amazing brown boots which were exactly what I was looking for —chocolate brown, with a heel, and is versatile. Tried them on, fell in love, you know the drill. Then I discovered they were Loeffler Randall boots. I apologize ahead of time if this discredits me as a fashion blogger, but I have never heard of Loeffler Randall before. Whipped out my smart phone to see what the damage usually is and found out their boots usually costs a whopping of over $600! Well, guess what price I got them for? A mere $60. Not bad for a pair of barely used, good quality, leather boots! 🙂

Thrift Style Thursday : Favorite Pick

Well, I just thrifted this and so I don’t think I would consider it my favorite yet, but I do REALLY like this dress so I just HAD to style it for this week. It’s just a simple grey knit dress and I just wanted to keep it just that. Threw on a sweater, tights, and boots because it was cold and added a touch of bling to dress it up a bit. Simply comfortable.
