Maximize the Maxi

I love adding pieces to my wardrobe that is easy to mix up and dress up for different occasions. It’s all about maximizing what you’ve got already, especially when you’re just starting out in the professional world.

With just a change of the outerwear, you can go from a beach day, to a city stroll, or to a work day as easy as one, two, and THREE.

Just add some delicate lace or crochet to the mix to bring out the girl in a casual outfit.

For an even more laid back look, just throw on a chambray and head out the door.

You can’t wear pajamas to work, but you can get pretty close by just throwing a soft blazer on top of a maxi!

Today is just one of those days where the “laid back” feelings of summer are creeping up on me, hence it’s going to be a casual Tuesday with a simple look. We all need simple looks, right?

Yes, this outfit looks very similar to my New York Wannabe post, but that’s because I wanted you to focus on this gorgeous new bag courtesy of Ora Delphine. The Adele Satchel by Ora Delphine is one to admire and desire because of its sleek design, quality leather, and golden details. You’re going to love the size. Large enough to carry the essentials, plus a tablet, or camera and it has enough pockets to be efficient. Minimalistic. Modern. Classy. And it also comes in a variety of classic colors. I decided to go with purple because it was on the borderline between edgy and neutral.

Thrift Style Thursday: The Maxi Skirt

I already had a post about a thrifted maxi skirt {The Maxi}, but good thing I remembered that I thrifted this number a year or two ago. My favorite part is that it’s super comfortable! I can wear maxi skirts or dresses all day long! Today was kind of a lazy day, good thing this skirt is easy to pair up with anything. Just throw on a chambray, some jewelry, put up that messy bed hair, and out the door. {Have you noticed my tendency of just throwing things on? Sorry to let out the secret that I don’t plan out my outfits the night before. 😛 }

Casual Browns

Who knew winter could feel like summer? Sorry for rubbing it in for those whose teeth are chattering right now, but today here in the bay, the sun was shining bright and it felt like it was in the 70s! Geez, we’re too spoiled out here.

Just so you know, it’s okay to wear a lot of brown! Just make sure that you are pairing it up with different shades of brown. Don’t just stay with one shade, or else you’ll look like poop. Enough said. I used to hate wearing brown because I thought my skin matched the color too much…it’s all about the shade!

As I have been analyzing my outfits and listing the brands out here for you, I am realizing that I shop pretty much at the same four places: Anthropologie, Gap, J.Crew, or Thrift Stores. I think I need to branch out a bit more. So for this post, instead of just giving you just one similar option, I’m going to give you a couple to choose from. Don’t limit yourself to just a couple of stores (like I have been doing), but go exploring! Who knows what special pieces you will find in the most unlikely places.
