Go Get ‘Em Denim

Hello there! Thanks so much for everyone’s vacation good wishes! I did have a wonderful and restful vacation, so much so that I feel excited about this work filled summer! I won’t bore you with the details, but just know that if you are feeling close to burning out, take a week off, follow these guidelines, and you will come back with no more dark circles, a straighter back, and a recharged battery

Any-who, it’s outfit time. I’ve always wanted to try the all denim look so here it goes!

So here are my tips on pulling off a denim on denim look..

DENIM ON DENIM if you dare

1. Different Shades of Denim
Make sure that your denim pieces are of a different shade BUT ALSO that the shades mesh well together.

2. Different Denim Weight
Make sure that your denim pieces vary in fabric weight to balance the look as well as keeping it interesting!

3. Simple Accessories
All denim will already turn heads, so play down the accessories and keep it simple!

Thanks for stopping by! Happy Monday!

Oh and I think I should call this week “Shop and Give” Week, because I am happy to introduce to you Kidogo Kidogo — a company that gives back with every purchase you make! Kidogo Kidogo is a cell phone case company that gives a mobile phone to a woman in Tanzania for every cell phone case they sell! These mobile phones are a necessity for these women — they use these phones for business purposes in order for them to provide for their family. Mix & Match Fashion

Hidden Lake

After 24 years living in my hometown, I had no idea there was a lake down the street from my house! Isn’t that ridiculous? I am pretty ashamed of myself. But better late than never right?

This new discovery was made just in time because this week’s Thrifty Thursday theme is Nautical. Today I felt like ditching the typical blue/white deal and decided to mix in a little orange and of course my Sperry Top-Siders which happens to be pink.

Tangerine and pink? I think it’s a workable combo.

MIX MATCH

Pink and Orange

Hm, I’m usually not the one to wear midi skirts due to my short stature, but this one grew on me. My aunt decided that she didn’t want this anymore so I took it because I saw the potential. You agree?

Tips on wearing a Midi Skirt:
1. Make sure you wear it high waisted.
2. When choosing a top, make sure it still accentuates the waist by choosing a slim fitting top or even with a cropped jacket.
3. Add a belt for extra pizazz and shape.
4. Heels are necessary (especially for us height-challenged folks).
5. Should hit between the knee and mid calf, depending on your height.

How to Jumpsuit

I’ve been crazy about jumpsuits lately.

During one of my shopping excursions, I stumbled across this lovely number and decided to take a risk on it. Being a woman with a slightly below-average height and short legs, it’s hard to find a wide leg piece that looks decent, let alone a jumpsuit.

Showing your shoulders while teaching is a BIG NO-NO, hence the not-necessary cardigan.
