Anticipating Fall

For some reason the weather here in the Bay Area has taken an odd turn — gray skies and less sun. These gray skies do not help my itching anticipation for fall at all. Remember this dress that I wore this past fall/winter? Well, I decided to take it out again but added a colorful scarf to brighten it up a bit and make it season appropriate. My shoes on the other hand…sorry, I couldn’t help but break these out.

Waiting till fall was like having a bowl of mint-chocolate-chip ice cream on the table in front of you. My advice: just have the ice cream.DSC_2857 DSC_2863 DSC_2892 DSC_2888 DSC_2896 DSC_2903 DSC_2926 DSC_2935

White House

Okay, so this post has nothing to do with Washington D.C. or the White House, but here was my thought process:

White Outfit –> Olivia Pope –> White House

If you haven’t already seen the hit TV series Scandal, sign up for Netflix and get going! It’s a show full of politics, conspiracies, drama, and of course scandals. The main character, Olivia Pope, is a political cleaner-upper who commands the room in all of her classy white ensembles. I don’t know if it’s the power of wearing a monochrome white outfit, but I’m totally feeling like a boss.

Roe Boulevard was kind of enough to let me try out a couple of their pieces which I absolutely love! The white top fits really well and the fabric is elegant and classy enough to bring the Olivia Pope out of you. Too bad they just sold out of this gorgeous top as well as the necklace I’m wearing. 😦

But don’t be wary, they have other gorgeous pieces that will add spice to your wardrobe. And some other good news, Roe Boulevard is offering my readers 40% off your purchase using the code LUCKY40. Make sure you take advantage of this!
{Note: I am not profiting from your purchase. I just want to share the love :)}

I’m not usually the one to match my shirt and shoe color, but today I decided to push that rule out and go a little crazy. I mean it is spring break after all. And yes, this is probably the most crazy action I am going to do this week. Hm, no wonder my students think I live under a rock.

Don’t forget about my current giveaway from Kay & Kompany! You have until April 14th to enter! Just click here to go to the Rafflecopter page.

Shoes
c/o Lulu*s $24
{Can I just say, that I’ve been looking for these shoes for awhile? It’s been hard to find them for a reasonable price but of course, Lulu’s got them! Super cute, right? And as for comfort….not too shabby! 🙂 }

Purse
Hand-me-down: Vintage Coach
{Has anyone taken a look at the new Coach line? I’m genuinely impressed. Previously, they have always been about the “C’s” and the bright colors, but now they’re bringing back the simple, classic, but modern look. Absolutely love!}

Sometimes you want to stand out, but not be a highlighter. I say, go for the softer shades like this mauve color to make a subtle statement. Contrast the soft color against neutral pieces and watch your outfit command attention without people going “Woah, where’s the new vocabulary word?” {Yes, kind of a lame teacher joke, but hopefully you understood my intent or at least got a good laugh at my expense.}
